To promote the acquisition and exchange of knowledge and good practice in the field of bridge management, design, construction, repair and maintenance.
To consult and co-operate with other bridge owners and those having an interest in bridges.
To maintain links with other Local Authority Associations and appropriate Government Departments and Agencies.
To provide advice to Councils and CoSLA when requested.
To monitor and review progress on the programme of assessment and strengthening of bridges carrying public roads including the funding arrangements.
To assist Councils in their pursuit of Best Value in relation to all aspects of Bridge Management and Maintenance by preparing Performance Measures and Performance Indicators for use in Benchmarking.
